Doesn't look like a reunion (yet), but Cleopatra Records has released a new Ministry track:
quote:
Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records has released a brand new single #8212; and the first new track in nearly two years #8212; from the godfathers of industrial metal MINISTRY! Led by founding member, frontman/guitarist Al Jourgensen, the band#8217;s sizzling remake of the AC/DC classic "Thunderstruck" is available on iTunes worldwide today and will be serviced nationwide to radio programmers courtesy of Skateboard Marketing. The special U.S.- only promotion will feature rare collectible prizes where the lucky winners will receive an autographed item from Al Jourgensen himself. Skateboard will also be servicing the brand-new full-length album, to be released by Cleopatra later this year.
MINISTRY, arguably the most influential industrial band to date, punctuated the close of its 30-year recording career with 2007's "The Last Sucker". A remix album, "The Last Dubber", an appropriately beguiling album that dabbles in both trance and metal, followed last year.
"The Last Sucker" was greeted with a chorus of glowing reviews, including Pitchfork proclaiming it "MINISTRY's most exciting record since 'Psalm 69'," and Spin said MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen "can still pile on the jackhammer beats and clever samples." Following the album's release, Jourgensen and company embarked on the C U LaTour, which wrapped around the globe with sold-out shows at each stop and is documented in the "Adios#8230; Puta Madres" DVD/CD.

It's ok if you don't like both. It's just that it isn't the same.
Because you mentioned him: Manson I think is in the grey area. He's definitely not the role model of what you'd understand as nu-metal.
You shouldn't confuse industrial metal and industrial. The latter is more or less a subgenre of electronic music. A "good" version of techno if you will.
Other Industrial Metal bands are Strapping Young Lad or Fear Factory.
And there's also Industrial Rock/Alternative. Rob Zombie, Filter, Stabbing Westward, Nine Inch Nails etc. Though I'd personally include Rob Zombie, those bands aren't considered metal as well. |

Anyone who thinks Industrial metal and numetal are the same genre clearly hasn't listened to most Ministry albums, most Fear Factory, most S.Y.L, Godflesh, early Pitchshifter or Meathook Seed's "Embedded" album. They are NOT the same genre, there's some real good, angry music be found.
Back to the topic at hand; I'm a big Ministry fan and listened to the 30 sec sample on last.fm. Definitely want to hear the whole song; Al Jourgenson has a great approach when it comes to covering a song but I don't really believe buying music digitally. Still waiting for some bloke to upload it on youtube. |

I love both industrial and industrial metal. Which are quite different. And while Brack's explanation was spot on, I would like to add one thing: ******* bands / fans are not allowed to wear goggles on their heads.
And as for Ministry. I have been waiting for this moment for far too long!! |
